Step 1: Decide
Decide what sizes you’ll need, which options of the pattern you’ll use, and what adjustments you’re going to need.
Step 2: Stitch
Running your pattern through PDF Stitcher is a great shortcut for simplifying parts of the pattern and helps if your pattern isn’t already a projector file.
Step 3: Simplify
Open up the pattern in Affinity Designer and start getting rid of all the pieces we don’t need and making sure each piece we do need is accessible, to make the rest of the steps simpler.
Step 4: Adjust
Grade, lengthen, shorten, FBA, bicep adjustment, change the crotch curve, whatever it is you need to do to this pattern to make it fit you.
Step 5: Prepare
Now that the pattern fits you perfectly, let’s set you up for success by making it as easy as possible to cut when you get to the cutting mat.
Step 6: Export
Take your Affinity Designer file and turn it into a PDF file that you can open in your preferred cutting program.
Step 7: Project
Open your PDF file in your preferred cutting program and get to cutting!

How long do I have access?

How much time can I expect to invest each week?

No. You will need the full computer program to follow along with this course.

Yes, absolutely! That’s what I use most often and will be using for most of the course.
Can I use the Mac version of Affinity Designer?
Yes, absolutely! I’m planning to steal my husband’s Mac to record at least one video of the course but will be doing most on my Windows computer. I’ve taught this course as a live class in the past and students using Mac computers have not had any issues following along with my Windows program. The cheat sheet will “translate” any shortcuts for you from my Windows version to the Mac version.
Can I use Affinity Designer v1?
Yes! I’ll be showcasing v2 for most of the course but one of the bonus lessons will show the differences and past students in my live classes have not had any issues using v1 while I used v2.
Can I use Affinity Designer v2?
Yes! That’s the version you’ll be seeing on my computer.

Maybe. I cannot possibly showcase every pattern adjustment that could be made, but my goal is not to teach you how to do each specific adjustment. My goal is to teach you how to use Affinity Designer and to be able to translate prior knowledge of an adjustment or instruction to make the adjustment on paper to the digital adjustment in Affinity Designer.
Do you still plan to offer your live classes?
No. Live classes were so much fun! I adore the back and forth of lives and I love the experience that gave me in teaching this material. But the ongoing need to schedule live times just isn’t working for my family. This course is the only way I’ll be offering this information for the foreseeable future.
